Oldham monument realizes that there are a lot of decisions to be made at this difficult time. Selecting a memorial to honor the life of a loved one is an important and personal decision. The following is a helpful guide that will walk you through the monument creation process. This is a great place to start before going to the Create Your Monument link.

Step By Step with Oldham Monument – Basic Questions

  • Who is the monument for?
  • What names are to be on the monument?
  • Would you like the maiden name on the monument?
  • What are the dates to be on the monument?
  • Would you like the married date on the monument?
  • Will the names on the monument face east or west?
  • Where (city and state) is your loved one being laid to rest?
  • What cemetery and where in the cemetery?

Choose Monument Style:

UPRIGHT

  • The upright style comes with a base.
  • Customized top: Straight, Oval or SERP (serpentine). Click here to view options
  • Choose the following finish for the upright style:
    Polish 2: front and back are polished (sides and top are rough)
    Polish 3: front, back and top are polished (sides are rough)
    Polish 5: all surfaces are polished

WEDGE

  • Wedge-style monuments are seen with or without a base.
  • Customized top: Straight, Oval or SERP (serpentine) Click here to view options
  • The standard finish on the wedge style is a polished front and a sawn or smooth back. Or you may have:
    Polish 2: front and back are polished (sides and top are rough)
    Polish 3: front, back and top are polished (sides are rough)
    Polish 5: all surfaces are polished

FLAT MARKER

Flat or “grass” markers are usually set above the ground. However, they can be set with the top level or flush with the ground.

BEVELED MARKER

Beveled markers are similar to the wedge monument that lays close to the ground. It is slightly raised on the top end.

SPECIAL ORDER SHAPES

Installation

We research each cemetery as a service to you ensuring your monument’s size, shape, and placement satisfy the regulations of your loved one’s resting place. Oldham Monument provides installation of your monument (although, some cemeteries will do the foundation). The size and depth of the foundation is determined for the size of the monument.
